Patti...ugh....bad sitch! Do you have negotiators phone number? Start calling! Sounds like B of A lost some other deal, or more than one deal, and is trying to recoup! Call negotiator's supervisor, if no number, use the B of A number of your negotiator, change the last four digits by one, and see if you can get hold of someone helpful enough to get you to a supervisor to plead your case. Example: negotiator number is 866-275-7666, then just go to 7667, and see what happens. Gotta work your way AROUND your negotiator.

i would start with customer service and ask for the supervisor of the negotiator and start asking some serious questions.

Hey folks, I know this a common problem but I was 3/4th's of the way thru a BofA short sale, going back & forth thru the system on a listing I've had for 16 months. We were just getting close to being done and then they sent back an offer that was $4000 more than what they'd been agreeing to all along. Then the buyer (who thought this was a preapproved short sale) countered back at the amount we'd been working with. THEN BofA comes back with $6000 more - can you believe it?
This is are 3rd buyer(regular buyer), our last buyer was an Investor who walked because BofA came back to high on a 1968 rambler that backs up to 8 lanes of I-405 in Kirkland, WA.
I've emailed everyone on the email list in Equator, tried to get Ben B. to add me as a friend so I could email him about it - the phone# for the negotiator is the Short Sale phone# - I'm tearing my hair out here - HELP?????

Al Goldin, if you have time call their bluff...I was told that Freddie Mac did not pay Cc for Conventional loans....only FHA loans. I caved. Had I had enough time to "play" I would have, but :-) not this time. So, cash is power, go back and ask again. According to Ben :-) keep asking them until they cave ;-)

I think all of those who deal with BoA got that one. I fired off an email on Equator.com to everyone on that email list and their bosses and their bosses citing the idiotic closing date they gave me "one day" we were approved on 6/29 to close on 6/30 and I had been asking for enough time to close on 6/30....since February 9th. I was told "well you asked for that date" and I just blew my stack. Then was told by the closing officer that the escalation negotiator should have automatically given us more time to close. Doubt it was because of my rantings that this link was sent out, but I bet more people did complain just like I did.

Ben, thanks for all of your help! I just received approval on one of my short sales. I did what you said, I just kept countering back and insisting on getting what I wanted. It worked! Still subject to senior management approval. It feels great to be a 4 year old again!

why would you pay cash and ask the lender to pay closing? just offer less money and pay the closing yourself.

Elaine - You NAILED it....

Best negotiating advice I ever got (great story behind it as well), was from George Ross, Donald Trump's attorney.
I saw him having lunch at a hotel for a real estate conference I was attending, and, I just pulled up a chair and started talking to him......no regrets in life :-)

He told me,
"Ben, of all the deals I have done with Donald, still,
THE BEST NEGOTIAOTOR I HAVE EVER MET IS MY 4 YEAR OLD NIECE, SHE JUST KEEPS ASKING AND ASKING AND ASKING UNTIL SHE GETS WHAT SHE WANTS!!!!"

Apply that to your short sale business and you will ROCK!!!!!
