My basic question is, would OCWEN approve a short sale on a house that has been vacant for 9 years? It was a single family primary residence before the owners defaulted in 2007 and moved out in 2009.…Continue

Update on the Ocwen, Altisource, Hubzu.com saga.
Just received notification that Altisource can no longer process my transaction after we have been through the Hubzu. com procedure, received an offer they accepted and then once the property was damaged by inadequate winterization, the buyer asked for a reduced price and suddenly they can't continue and we are being returned to Ocwen after I wait 48 hours so they will have a chance to realize we are back in their hands! My 48 hours is up tomorrow. I will let you know what happens when I call. Want to wager they have not "received" that information and I will be told to call back in another 48 hours.
Nolberto, As soon as I discover a loan is serviced by Ocwen or Nationstar, I tell the seller to find another Broker - I don't even want to involved to the point of a referral. I want nothing to do with either company.
To those agents who don't want to deal with Ocwen or Nationstar in FL or TX,
Please refer unto me. We will pay you the referral fee once we close.

Thanks,
Thanks for listening, Thom ... :) ... stay tuned ... this aint over till THIS lady sings!!! ;)
Hi Ellen, First let me apologize - I re-read my comment (written as I was running out the door to an appointment) and realized it could have been interpreted as condescending. Unfortunately there is no logic to what Altisource, Ocwen, Hubzu are doing to homeowners. I completely understand why you feel the way you do. They broke into you house and caused the damage. Since you are the owner, you can always check with an attorney and I suspect you could re-key the locks and re-take possession. But, what good will that do at this point. Ocwen is under a lot of scrutiny at this point and I understand there are lawsuits pending against them for a number of their activities. It is very unfortunate that your loan is with them as there are others who are more sensitive to homeowners / borrowers.
Have you contacted your local District Attorney / Attorney General? Have you contacted the Media? Ocwen certainly does not want any additional attention brought upon them.............
Best of luck as you move forward.
Thom, At the time - I was paying on the utilities and maintaining the property - even keeping some of my personal belongings there - my two older children checked in on the property at least twice a week. Then - they broke into the house (documented via police report) and changed the locks - shortly thereafter they winterized the property. I still have personal belongings there - and have a buyer for the property who has made a full cash offer on the short sale "as is" ... but because of the time that has passed she is threatening to walk away ... so in answer to your question - technically, it was not abandoned - although I no longer resided there. Once the house was winterized after the locks were changed - you could say it was "abandoned" by force ... not by choice ... does that make any sense?
Ellen -
Ocwen, Altisource and Hubzu are all the same company. There are Class Action Lawsuits against them and more coming. Did you abandon the property and that's why it's not maintained?
Do you have a telephone # for Joseph Davila?
Thank you all so much - my mortgage is through Ocwen but Altisource was retained by Ocwen to "maintain" and inspect my home ... as it is - the grass is a foot or more high and the house is sadly neglected for the way it has been mistreated by Ocwen and it's representatives. Thank you for the information - I have contacted the Ombudsman at Ocwen with no results - now I will contact the CFPB (thanks for the definition) and hopefully will get some results. Will keep you posted and thank you again!
Ellen,
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was set up at the behest of Sen. Elizabeth Warren to protect consumers from the predatory practices of financial institutions and loan servicers among others. They are currently investigating Ocwen. They have their own in-house attorneys to fight for you. You don't have to pay them any fees to seek assistance. They are also the regulatory authority and report directly to President Obama. They will help you.
Linda,
If you short sale is through Ocwen, please contact Ombudsman or CFPB. If it is through Altisource please escalate to Joseph Davila.
