I am currently beginning another short sale attempt with Ocwen, following a series of failed attempts over the past several years.  I am a military member forward deployed overseas, making the whole situation a little more complicated.  All previous attempts at a short sale have failed due to slow rolling, almost exactly as described in this article...

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-12-18/ocwen-said-to-have-stalled...

We had an offer in 2013 (not the first attempt), that finally fell apart after eight months, as Ocwen kept asking for more paperwork (in violation of CFPB guidelines for military members), and ultimately the buyers walked.  The final straw was a counter-offer that we WELL higher than the market price.  We had to put the house back on the market, but we could not market it at that price, so fighting for a few months, Ocwen finally arrived at a selling price that was only $1,000 over the previous offer, meaning we lost a short sale for no reason that I can see. The house was put on the market for this  price, and we are trying again with a new offer.

So far there have been several violations of CFPB guidelines, which I have reported to the CFPB, but this does not help my specific situation.

How can I move this forward without falling into the black hole of Ocwen customer service, again?  I have been speaking to a reporter with Stars and Stripes, but they want to use my name, and I do not want to broadcast to the military world that I am a deadbeat.  There is still a lot of shame in this in my world, but it has been years that we have been trying this and the house has been vacant this entire time, and is suffering from lack of habitation.  I may be forced to do this.

I have tried the military support line, which is honestly a complete joke.  The best they could do was put me in touch with my customer care rep, and verify that they had a copy of my military paperwork, but could not provide any specific assistance.  My customer care rep is genuinely a nice guy, but has no real power.  The poor men and women on the customer support line from India, are probably the most abused in this process, since they have even less power to do anything, but get the brunt of the criticism.

My next step is to go public with my situation in the paper, which would be poetic justice, but will kill any remaining military career I have.  I need an escalation method that has teeth, without sacrificing my family on the alter of public scrutiny.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your service and sorry to hear that Ocwen has been giving you a nightmare run around. I'd recommend having an experienced short sale facilitation team in your corner to support you who can help you escalate issues at Ocwen and overcome the often tedious short sale process. Our team pushes files through with Ocwen regularly and have access to individuals who aren't in customer service and who live in the states. Are you currently working with an agent?

Call me as I can offer you support or point you in the right direction.
