I have a short sale where Freddie is the investor and we were given the short sale affidavit. It's been fun trying to get it notarized by all parties, anyway, I read where some agents have been able to get this done at closing then submit it, even though the lender requests it before closing. I tried to find it on here but I can't remember where I read it and searching didn't turn it up. So my question is, has anyone waited to have it done at the closing table and submit it then without any lender backlash? I don't want to mess this closing up.

Best to get it done in advance of closing - what if, at the last moment someone won't sign.............. - then what ?
There is really no reason this document cannot be signed and notarized now. It can be completed in "Counter-part" which means everyone can sign their own copy and the settlement agent can send them all together.
Best of success in 2012 !
Best to go with what the lender wants. Some will take it at closing, but if they want it before, why not,
That's exactly what has been happening. I have a seller who lives 5 hours away and they did their part, the buyer's agent has done her part, just need mine and the buyer's. It's still a pain that it has to be notarized and done before closing.
I agree. I find providing what the banks ask for when they ask for it is the best bet. What one individual at the bank will accept can vary from the next. They are consistently inconsistent.
Get it signed in "counter part" as Thom suggests and get it done as soon as you can.
