FINALLY CLOSED my GT 2TD with a HAFA approval!
7 months and a ton of phone calls later but I have to say once I was able to talk directly to my LM (not acct rep) we made huge progress. 1st approval was for a 3K payoff with no waiving the right to pursue judgment (total owed was about 120K purchase money 2TD). Sellers attorney wouldn't advise her do it even with us in CA (non recourse- nothing in law on 2TD though)... so we switched to HAFA on the 1st and submitted again with the same negotiator at GT...got approval back within 1.5 weeks... waived right to pursue deficiency and signed off for 6K on a 120K 2TD!!!! Total success 7 months later! 7 months of missed payments and never charged off! It is possible to have success... and be polite:) I also found it best top contact my LM at about 7:00 am (pacific). Otherwise it was always direct to VM.

That is great! I am in California and since the law passed July 15th where the 2nd can't come after the borrower Green Tree is now trying to get 30%!! We are giving them 10 and they are making a big issue! Hope I can get this one done or I am writing to my Senator in California to help me !

Yes, I'm having problems with them as well. They are extremely slow and unethical in my opinion. I have two of their files but I will be turning down the next one that walks thorugh the door.
