Chase states the investor is Fannie Mae and Fannie Mae is saying they are not the investor.

On 6/09/10 we submitted a short sale package to Chase.  Chase said that they sent a request to the investor to postpone the foreclosure but that the investor has denied the postponement.  Chase and the Trustee, Tiffany & Bosco, P.A. both claim that the denial came from Fannie Mae.  We have repeatedly called Fannie Mae with the FNMA number and the property address.  Fannie Mae has told us that they are not the investor on this loan.

What course of action would anyone recommend?

Matt,

The lookup tool to see if FANNIE is the investor is right here:
http://www.fanniemae.com/loanlookup/

Then you can stop guessing/wondering!
Kent,

Thank you for the look up tool. We tried to look up the property address in the Fannie Mae system yesterday. There were no results found.

We then called Chase back and they were adamant that Fannie Mae was the investor. We called the Executive Resolution Group of Chase. They opened a case for us and were able to give us another internal loan number.

We called Fannie Mae back and they recognize it as a Fannie Mae loan number. The person that we talked with was only level one and could not verify the address attached to the loan number. We left a message in the general voice mail for level two to give us a call back.

We are trying a few other avenues to see if there is anything that can be done.

you cna check to see if the ivenstor is fannie or freddie by going to:

Fannie Mae - http://loanlookup.fanniemae.com/loanlookup/
and
Freddie Mac - https://ww3.freddiemac.com/corporate/

Also, know that some of the Fannie and Freddie loans WERE sold off to private investors as mortgage backed securities, as such, the loan MAY have been with Fannie for a certain period, but, no longer with Fannie.

You can also have your Seller send in a signed written request, known as a "QWR" asking for the name and contact info. of the investor on the note.
