After 7 month of waiting for completed ss package being shuffled back and forth between 1st American and Suntrust, a negotiator was finally assigned January 10th after escalation on numerous occasions.  At first negotiator responded right away after I sent him the requested documents right away. At one point I politely asked for an update and he emailed me back that I will be updated of the status as it becomes available and that he could not give me a timeline - it's now been almost three weeks while I followed up with email, I got no response.  The problem now is that Suntrust started their foreclosure process and I try to get him to put it on hold until further notice. How do I get his attention - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Judy, the only communication with the negotiator I have is via email. When I talked to the loss mitigation department I was told they only hold a foreclosure if there has been an auction date set. Is there a number for the foreclosure department?
Petra, I'm having the same issues. I have a dual SunTrust Short Sale that was submitted in early December 2009. . According to each call center rep they are not allowed to escalate the complaint until the 60 days ( yeah right!!!)
No negotiator assigned. Both loans have been set up months ago. Foreclosure Dept has started sending notices. I called SunTrust and according to the reps who read the computer screen notes, the SS Dept has notfied the Forclosure Dept that the home is requesting short sale approval.

Judy..you are so correct that it appears that SunTrust (as well as many other BIG BANKS) don't care about the human toll or the emotional toll this has on the owners. In my case I have a clients who's husband died ( DIED) and left her in a world of hurt with several children. The lack of response from SunTrust is shameful not to mention harmful to my client. They are fully aware of the situation. My client cannot sustain the mortgage, cannot sell, and her credit is being ruined each day this continues. This is happening to her, she is not doing this to the bank.

I will continue to fight for my client and to push SunTrust hard for a response.

I find it amazing when I just leaned that CitiBank gave short sale approval with 48 hours of contract submission to a Realtor here in Woodbridge, Virginia.. If one bank can do it, they all can do. They choose not to.
I wish you the best Peggy, but finally the neogiator called for another BPO, it was the third. I just hope this won't take too much longer. Sad, sad, sad...

We are actual buyers that put an offer on a house August 2009. We sold our house in three days and 6 weeks later moved into a rental thinking that we would only be there until November 30th, our closing date. Suntrust ordered the first BPO November 10th and our realtor was told by the negotiator we should know by December 8th. Then we waited...January 5th another BPO was ordered, arms length agreement, a couple weeks later another HUD statement and here we sit seven months since we made the offer on the house. We are about to blow through our third closing date and soon will not be elligible for the move up homebuyers credit (did I mention our rental is also for sale?) The stress is killing us. Suntrust response is "nothing yet"...."still nothing to report". I want to know if they [Suntrust] have to comply to HAFA rules when April 1st rolls around and give us an answer in 10 days.
I have been waiting 7 months too. Our buyers are ready to walk. We have been shoved from department to department. Just no response, missing paperwork that was faxed 3 or 4 times. Everytime you call, you get a different story. I would like to hear how anyone else has done this. We are getting quite desparate. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Feedback would be appreciated.
@Mandy - My SunTrust Short sale took about 9 month. Once a negotiator was assigned - which took the longest - the transaction went smoothly. Get the file escalated.
you think that escalation is the key, its not. you are doing things the hard way
