Seller to Call Fannie Mae for Short Sale Closing Extension?

 

I usually do not like to get my sellers involved or have them contact the lender directly. However, we are in need of an extension on a Fannie Mae loan. The negotiator says she sent it in and does not know Fannie Mae's response time. Does anyone have a specific phone number that has worked for them or their client in the past? Appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Sara. Here's a number for for the seller to call Telephone 1-800-7FANNIE (1-800-732-6643). Also remember that the sellers have the righto to call their lenders and should. And according to the new FTC MARS Rule we have to disclose to them that they can. My sellers have unclogged many log jams for me.

A short sale is a team sport!! Having the home owner actively involved is an amazing tool that tends to speed up the entire process. Most of my sellers actually enjoy contacting the lenders once the short sale is underway. It gives them back the sense of power & control over their future that being unable to afford your mortgage takes away.
