Hi R Mial. HAFA has to be done when the short sale is done. Too late. If it helps very few people have success with HAFA anyway. It's great that you had a successful short sale and were able to purchase another home right away. Good for you.
That would have been at the time of sale and you may not have qualified anyway but you sold your home short so were let out of a debt and bought a home that was probably under market soooooo- it worked out well for you.
Hi R Mial.
You accomplished what many don't. Without opening a whole file it is guesswork. As agents we spned way too many hours trying to get the SS done with or without HAFA. It is suppose to force cooperation but doesn't seem to work well.
If somewhere along the way someone decides to not sign the paperwork or walk from the sale- from the banks to the buyer or sellers - it's a real issue!
Thank your REALTOR for getting your short sale through! They did a great job getting it done. In many cases they did you a great job even if they didn't get it done. A lot of agents REFUSE (understandably) to do SS because of the hassle factor much less liability, level of skill and ability.
Please remember to thank God, your lucky stars and yes your REALTOR!
