Wells Fargo has officially started using Equator for their Short Sale process. The ability to initiate a Short Sale was intially only available to a select number of agents but I heard they have "quietly" opened it up so that all agents can initiate through Equator. What do you think?

Great, I'm going to try it right now.
Didn't work!  I guess they may have a few bugs to work out...

I think it's great!  I have a few Wells going now, so I guess I wasn't one of the "select" number!

I just found out that you need to make sure you have the correct combination of 1) loan number, 2) zip code and 3) SSN for the PRIMARY borrower when you initiate in Equator.  If it doesn't work, it may be that it doesn't match Wells Fargo’s records or it could be that the loan is not eligible to be initiated in Equator.   I've heard from other agents that you can also call Wells Fargo customer service and ask them to have it initiated in Equator if you are having trouble.  It’s a new process for Wells Fargo so their customer service may not initially suggest using Equator unless you ask. The HUD Form is especially easy to use!
I think, if this works, it is a great system. Hopefully this will remediate any previous problems with data getting into the Wells system..
