FHA SS-they send approval letter at the end?

Just got "approval" on a 6 month FHA nightmare with BAC. What they send are the title HUD/closing instructions page followed by the FHA/HUD form "Sales Contract Review-Preforeclosure Sale Program". I'm concerned for 2 reasons:

1) my ATP is expired because they've had to get 2 variances since August.

2) standard template BAC approval letter that I'm used to seeing is not coming-They explain that the closing officer gets assigned in a few days and when they get the FINAL HUD, THEN they issue the standard letter. They explain this has been the FHA process with them for 4 months.

It's true you won't get the standard approval letter until they approve the final HUD.
