Need help on how to go about to stop this scheduled foreclosure in VA. The owners wanted to keep the house and were wrongfully/ rightfully advised to file bankruptcy (Chapter 7) which temporarily stops the foreclosure. The mortgage company filed a motion with the trustee to sell the house and since they or their attorney did not oppose the motion it was granted. Now they got notice of foreclosure scheduled for March 2nd. Their attorney is advising them to file chapter 13 to stop the foreclosure. I advised them to call the mortgage company and see if they can work anything out. They called the mortgage company and were informed that they either have to pay the entire outstanding amount plus the attorney's fee to stop the foreclosure, or pay half of the outstanding amount plus the attorney's fee and the rest spread over 6months on the existing mortgage.
Any other suggestion to stop this foreclosure will be greatly appreciated.
