Just had to share the most ridiculous moment I've maybe ever had in short sales.  Last week it finally closed but not without a lot of stress.  Nationstar first, Citi second.  Approval letters came from both, it was approved through HAFA, both lenders cooperate. Great , right?  Well the letters came with the amount to the second being 4 cents apart.  Yes, 4 cents, pennies.  Neither lender would budge.  I asked Citi if I could mail him 4 pennies.  I asked Nationstar if really they'd let it foreclose over 4 cents. Yup, didn't care.   Either close on time, or we're closing the file.  Oh, and in case you're wondering, NO other parties could contribute this 4 cents either, not buyer, seller or agents.

So I went back to Citi and said my next call was to Sanjiv Das, the CEO.  Rep finally said he didn't want to be reprimanded over 4 cents, and he'd check with his manager.  So Citi adjusted their letter.

So while my clients were moving, etc. etc. it is this kind of ridiculous adherence to non sensical guidelines and rules that almost made someone lose their home to 4 pennies!  I think it was an issue of rounding.  Nationstar rounded to the nearest whole dollar, Citi would not and said that the amount was exactly the 6% of their balance and they would not change it.

Wow, is this really how this is supposed to go?  How these banks have reps with absolutely no authority to insert any common sense/cents (ha ha, no pun intended)

Simply amazing, appalling and disgusting really.
