I am attempting to buy a short sale property. Is there anyway I can check on the status with Chase myself?

Do I need some sort of case# or just the property address?

I'm trying not to bug the selling agent too much on this, but am anxious to see if it needs pushing along at all.

not without authorization from the seller/borrower...
Kyle is 100% correct.....I would ALWAYS ask to be updated PRIOR to submitting a short sale offer, or as a "contingency" to your submitting an offer.

you should also pre-screen the agent or whomever is handling the SS negotiaions...make 100000000% certain they know what they are doing or yu will be in for a long long road!!!!
