I'm a huge advocate of making sure homeowners have exhausted their efforts to save their homes first. To that end, I try to keep homeowners informed as to upcoming foreclosure prevention workshops. Most of these seminars are held by HUD approved counseling agencies and are free. NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America) is traveling around with their "Save the Dream" tour. See if it is coming to a city near you: www.NACA.com. It will be in San Francisco October 16th - 20th and they expect over 50,000 people. Lenders will be on hand, and in some cases will modify loans on the spot.
