  • Astoria was a portfolio lender, so they can do whatever they want.  They will pay a max of 4% commission, and their servicer, DMI is pathetic.  I actually hand delivered the package to their office because they kept confirming the package was received, then would have no record of it the next time I called.  Guess what? They lost the delivered package too.  There is no such thing as escalation, so I tracked down the CEO and she basically told me that she didn't care.  The seller gave up and it was one of the few that I considered "unclosable."

  • Astoria is AWFUL.  By far the worse lender I have ever dealt with on a 1st lien (PNC was the worst for a 2nd).  They do not escalate.  There is no process in place for going to upper management. Marcia Mach was my contact at Astoria (DMI).  She lost documents.  Did not acknowledge emails and calls and was generally terrible at her job.  The only way I could get her to act was to cc lossmittort@dmicorp.com (a lady named Stephanie - but anyone at that email will help).  Be sure to put the loan number and last name of the borrower in the subject.  Also, when you email, start with "This is my X email on this issue" Where X is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.  Keep a running log of who you speak to, what is said and when.  You will have to quote yourself and conversations.

Astoria is a MESS.  I will never take another Astoria short sale again.  And you only get 2% for all the hard work.

  • Christy,

Did you ever get an feedback for escalation at Assssstoria?? We just discovered they have a servicing company DMI!  They do not answer the phone as DMI and we assumed it was Astoria!  What a runaround we are getting. Thanks for any help at alll.
