We just put an offer on a property with Bof A being the lender. We had an another SS offer on this property last year in the old B of A system ( if you call it that) and B of A closed it, go figure.
I understand that as the buyer now I can request the ability to call the SS service # to be able to receive status of the SS.
What else should I be looking for to stay after this process.
Thanks
Chuck

Hey Chuck,

I'm not familiar with any rule that says because you're a buyer that your privy to any information on the seller's loan. You would need a 3rd party authorization form and private information about the seller to obtain any information on the status. The negotiator will barely talk to the agent, which means that you will get nothing in the way of information on the status. Good luck with your short sale and I agree with Sam. You should seek out some representation or your in for a ton of homework. The short sale profession is very tricky and just starting out, you would be completely behind the 8 ball when it comes to how to navigate the system for information, especially with BoA. Their one of the hardest, if not the hardest bank to work with when it comes to short sales. Half or better of their reps don't even know how to use their own system. If you obtained representation, you would be more in the know and it wouldn't cost you anything. The bank pays for all the fees with regards to representation. Again, GOOD LUCK.

Chuck. The updates will need to come from the sellers agent. I'm not aware of BofA releasing information related to the short sale to anyone other than the borrower(seller) and whoever the seller gave 3rd part authorization to. This is usually the seller's agent,

You are not an agent. Are you a buyer trying to buy short sale home? Sorry I do not know your situation, but if you are a buyer not an agent, I highly recommend you find local agent in your area who have been in the business, and have good reputation and knowledge about the short sale process and let him, or her help you navigate through this complex issue. It is to your advantage, it will cost you $0 and you will have good representation. Short sale in clear as MUD everyday there are issues changing all the time and you have to keep up with it and never ever give up on anything. If you want to do it without an agent, then you really need to educate yourself a lot and hope for the best, yes you can do it. If I was you I defiantly have a professional do it for me.
