An extension of the First Time Homeowner's Credit beyond 6/30

If you've been reading my posts, you know I have not, am not giving up!  Last week I encouraged everyone to write their Congressional Rep, Senators, and even the Prez urging an extension of the FIrst TIme Homeowner Credit deadline for buyers who DID sign agreements before April 30th, but were caught in the never ending web of financial institutions inability to meet the June 30th close.  Alas, hope dies last!

Even though my own Congress woman's office said that nothing was being done and there would be no extension, look what came out today: http://www.cnbc.com/id/37622791/comid/2#comments_top

So, if you get the chance, pick up pen or email and write those letters.  Don't give up. Tell all your colleagues, too.

Here are some sites for emailing:

Congressional Rep:  https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

Senator:  http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

President O:  http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

For anyone that says, I do not have time, here is a generic cut and paste into email sample:

Honorable (insert politician name here)

I am a (First time buyer, selling agent, buyer's agent, etc) who has been diligent about meeting the criteria for earning the The Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009's $8k credit  As told, I entered into a binding agreement prior to the mandated April 30, 2010 deadline.

Today, I am now at risk of losing the $8K credit that would allow me to become a first time homeowner, contribute to stimulating our depressed economy, stop the further escalation of real estate foreclosures and decaying neighborhoods, and even help you  (insert political name here) accomplish the very reason you created this Act.

I strongly urge you to EXTEND, not create a new credit, but merely extend the deadline for the THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS across the country who are powerless at this moment and at the mercy of overwhelmed, understaffed financial institutions who cannot meet the unrealistic deadline of June 30,  We did our part and now we need you to help us keep our binding commitments.  Without this credit, a large percentage of us may walk away and the end result could be further economic depression and decayed neighborhoods.  Please act TODAY to extend this deadline.

Sincerely,

(name, contact info)

Together ShortSaleSuperStars, we can work to move this insurmountable obstacle.  Are you with me?

Thanks,

Julie

Here is another update: http://www.totalmortgage.com/blog/mortgage-rates/first-time-home-bu...

Join me in ESCALATING our legislators, too. Escalate. Escalate. Escalate. There is strength in numbers and together we can make that difference.

You can easily write/fax/email a letter to your Senator while you are on hold with one of many wonderful financial institutions. An extension of this escrow close deadline will give you time to organize your strategy for close and even read Benita's soon-to-be released book.

And if you are on hold with a bank for a really long time....pop a quick letter to your op.ed papers on this very matter. Let's go! =)
