The Hafa program is supposed to speed up  the short sale process...in theory, mind you. Anyone believe this to be true? And just how long does it take, on average, for a Hafa/BofA SS?

Paul,

Question for you. Did any of your HAFA sales entail negotiating the pre-approved amount? if so, what was the outcome, did the buyers receive closing costs?

HAFA is great when i works. I've had a few ts year alone. With most lenders including BOA, the first 2 weeks the file is reviewd for HAFA. Make it easy on yourself. If you know the client can go HAFA, have them fill out the HAFA forms at the begining (http://www.makinghomesaffordable.org/home-affordable-foreclosure-al...) . The 3 I completed in the last 2 months took an average of 45 days, contract to close.

We waited 2 months for approval on HAFA.  We got the approved price that was needed.  So we put the home on the market.  It was sold in 10 days.  Went to CHASE where I was told it would take 2 weeks for final approval of the offer.  It took 6 weeks to get that approval.  After a week more delay we got the approval which stated that property needs to close in 18 days from now.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME??  Some of us should go into these banks and straighten up the process!!

I had a fast Wells Fargo HAFA a couple of months ago.
