Ocwen 2nd mortgage. Husband/wife both on mortgage. Divorced, husband got everything including house. Ex-wife chapter 7 BK discharged on house. BK triggered Ocwen's attorney being the only means of contacting Ocwen regarding the short sale even though she has nothing to do with the house now. We cannot speak to Ocwen representatives directly.
We sent Ocwen a short sale package with an offer of 3k to pay them off. The return phone call was from their attorney that says that "Ocwen won't do a short sale. My instructions are to let the 1st foreclose and wipe out our loan. Do you have any other questions before I hang up?".
HUH?!
My Question(s): How do we get the file away from Ocwen's attorney so that we can talk to someone at Ocwen that knows what a short sale is and will work with us? Does anyone have experience with this sort of problem and have a way around it?
I considered making a settlement offer through the attorney assigned, since that's not a "short sale" per se. :) or maybe even offering to buy the note, but I'd rather not have to spend money up front to get this done.

Ummmm, weird situation. So the xhubby is still on the Ocwen second, and didn't BK out?
The short sale escalation email addy on the Ocwen page and Michael Rapp at Ocwen were helpful to me. You might send them an email, both at the same time, and explain the situation.
Ocwen definitely does short sales.
