I had a second mortgage with HomEq, and we were in the middle of a short sale. The first mortgage was approved for the short sale, and we were waiting for HomEq to approve the request. I spoke with them to get an update and they told me I would be contacted later in that day by the underwriter to let me know where it is at. I never got a call and so I called the next day to find that HomEq was out of business. As of now the loan was not sold to any of the 4 lenders including Ocwen. I have no way of reaching HomEq as all of their contact info leads to nowhere. I need help ASAP in reaching HomEq so I can find out the fate of this loan. If I do not hear back soon from HomEq, the first mortgage lender will cancel the short sale and we will have to go into foreclosure.
According to all 4 lenders including Ocwen, all loans have now been entered into the system. I also never received a letter or any other information telling me which lender I was being transferred to. On my last conversation with the loan modification dept. at HomEq, the rep said something along the line that they [HomEq] were not going to transfer my loan. I didn't know then that they were selling to Ocwen, so it did not register what that might mean. My guess is that they did not sell my loan to Ocwen or anyone else. I really want to get in touch with someone that is connected with HomEq to find out where the loan might be.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I had this happen to me as well. First, on the HomEq site there is a tool that tells you who has the loan. Mine was sold to Wells Fargo, but they didn't have it. So I contacted each of the others and heard the same. So I concentrated on WF and trust me when I say it was a 9 week nightmare. If yours is the same as mine, here's what you need to do: 1.) Call 1.800.418.8540 - 2.) When they answer tell them you are looking for a loan uploaded into the R-1 system. (an old Wachovia database) - 3.) When they ask for the loan number it will be "50000000" and then the HomEq loan number. (That's "5" followed by seven zeros. )
Hopefully that will get you on the right track.
Good Luck!
