If Citi is still servicing the Loan you will be dealing with them in regards to the Compromise Sale (aka Short Sale).

True, but don't we need additional approval from the VA after Citi approves? Thank you!

Hello Sarah,

Of the offer in compromise sales (VA) we have done, the servicers will have a dedicated department/personnel which is in contact with VA.  Call the servicer and request the specific VA SS fax number.  If they have one, they should give it to you.  Each VA borrower will also have a VA assigned representative/loan technician which can be contacted if you need help expediting a file with the servicer. Either way I would suggest having yourself and/or your client speak with the assigned Tech just to let them know what is going on. 

Due to regulatory changes, VA has much less clout now, but can still be a good advocate.  You can locate the VA rep on the VA site :http://www.benefits.va.gov/homeloans/rlcweb.asp.
