I recently received an acceptance for an offer I put on a short sale. My realtor said all of the paperwork has been sent to the title company for review, but there is no timeline for closing. Just wondering how long the title company process takes and what to expect after that. Being a short sale there won't be an inspection, it is also a cash purchase, so no lenders involved. Just wanting some sort of idea when I can expect to close so I can start planning.

Thanks Jen. The title company Is finished with their part now. The realtor just keeps reassuring me everything is in motion. She says the bank keeps sending documents to them for revision and they keep sending them back so it should be any time now. But I don't know what type of documents they're sending. She said the bank wanted to et it closed quickly, we are ready to close, there's no financing holding anything up so I'm not sure what the problem is, but this waiting is worse than when we were waiting for the acceptance!
Thanks Jeff & Jospeh. It's awesome you used to live in Lafayette! I wasn't told which title company is being used.
Joseph-they are just handling the closing. We went directly through the listing realtor and she has handled everything else. But has told us there is no timeline for when closing will be. (I'm slightly anxious :))
Hi Elizabeth. It shouldn't matter if the title company is only handling the closing. On a cash deal with no lenders involved, 2 days should be plenty of time to get you closed! Contracts are different in different states, but it's typically the seller who gets to choose the title company. Tell your agent/listing agent to get their title company moving! :)

wait, is the title company handling the short sale process, or just the closing?
Elizabeth I used to live in Lafayette! What title company? Is it local? If so, call and ask them
My title company could close it in 2-3 days, sometimes soon depending on issues with title and timeframes for updated title comittment.
