We are the sellers here selling our ex primary residence that is now empty (we take care of it).

After months going back and forth with BoA we finally got the SS approval with closing date. First deadline wasn't met by buyer so an extension was provided until Feb 19th and again the deadline was missed because of buyer's bank asking for some repairs to be done.

We haven't been involved in the "repairs" process and, its still our house ,so should I be concerned and ask for detailed info about what's going on in there? Is this common practice to just let the buyer/contractor go in a house and make repairs without seller's knowledge and consent?(unoccupied house/short sale situation).

Thanks!

  • Gab - Buyers making repairs to a short sale house before closing is pretty common, as they are sold "as is", but the buyer's lender may require items fixed before closing. Yes, you should "ok" it.

    • Thanks! Buyer's bank was ok with the repairs this time and we are scheduled to close tomorrow...... finally! (third extension approved by BoA, FHA pre-foreclosure).

Thought this day would never come (started the process exactly a year ago, denied 3 times to participate since we moved to a new primary residence within same area).

This website has been VERY helpful for me to learn the process in buying a short sale AND selling. I think I need to start working in the real estate business lol
