My ace short sale assistant is moving to another state. She will still work for me (yea), but we have some questions:

What advice do you have for phone pickup? (she will share phone duties with someone in office) Our local phone carrier says we can make one of our office lines dedicated, forwarded to her phone, so she can pick up if my in-office assistant doesn't grab it.

We were looking into Magic jack as the best volume phone for her.

If she calls local clients with out of state number, will that confuse them, and is there a way to avoid it?

We already do most things via myfax, email, scan, IM, etc.

Your experience or tips would be appreciated.

Google voice is a powerful tool.  You guys can set up a free google voice account for whatever area you would like the number to appear from.  You can then (assuming she has a smartphone) have the calls to that number forwarded to ring on her cell phone.  I think you can even have it ring more than one phone at once (office, cell, etc at the same time).  What's more it will transcribe messages if you happen to miss a call, so you can prioritize without an immediate call back.  Check it out.

Love, love, love Google voice.  Especially when my 13 year old and I laugh our butts off over the bad translations.

Thanks, Nate, will do!

I forgot to mention.  When you use a smartphone with the google voice app installed, you can choose which number you would like to call out with, so that clients will see whichever number she would like to show.
