As an agent, I have sold many short sales. I recently wrote an offer to buy a short sale as my primary home. The listing agent insisted that I write the contract as if my broker was representing me. I don't see why a lender would care if the buyer was an agent since I would not be buyng as an investment property. Have any of you come across this before and if so how did it effect the commission structure.

I represented an agent in our office when she wanted to buy a short sale for the same reason - no commission paid if you write your own offer.
wow, really? this is a very helpful info. I had earned a commission buying a home for myself from a Fannie Mae- foreclosed home- I guess that is completely different than an active short sale.
Is this a form of discrimination to agent? I don't see why we cant get our commission buying a short sale home. We are not related to the owner whatsoever.
If your name is on the offer as a buyer, you will not be allowed a commission. Put it in your brokers name or someone else in your office. The listing agent has no say on how you write the offer.
