Had an agent call me yesterday and tell me to call her homeowner.  Homeowner has New Century Mortgage???  I have NOT done a New Century.  I for some reason thought they were gone.

Anyone deal with them at all?  Looking for insight.

  • I just closed on that had a New Century fist and second.  First was serivced by Chas and the second by Countrywide/Bank of America.

I did hear they had filed for BK sometime ago.

  • I have done one Carrington deal.  They were great to deal with.  Which to me means that their decision making process was rational and logical.  They are an investment fund, making decisions on the basis of return on investment, and the negotiator had delegated authorization, at least in my case.  I also got a good outcome for everyone..

Words of wisdom?  Make them an offer that is justifiable, based on sound investor logic.

  • Did you negotiate with them at all Michael?  Any words of wisdom?

  • Filed for Chapter 11 BK.  Some of those loans are serviced by Carrington Mortgage, hence presumably owned by a Carrington hedge fund.  But, the use of the name probably survives, under assignment, recordation, POA..

I suppose it is possible that someone stated a new company called New Century Mortgage, in order to capture the brand strength :-)
