Need Help in Tracking 2nd Lien

Per borrower, NO 2nd lien information available. Stopped paying over a year ago, no coupons, paperwork, can't remember name, etc... All she knows is that it went to an unknown collections agency.  Title just shows Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc. as nominee for Fidelity & Trust Mortgage, Inc with original loan amount. It doesn't show up on her credit report. Shows up on MERS as inactive, no information.  Need any other resources to find where the 2nd is laying dormant.

  • If this is a lien recorded against the property, it would have to be recorded, and if it was assigned, that assignment should be recorded.  The title company may be your best best to get you a copy of those documents, which should have the name and address of the lienholder and/or its assignee.
