Now that I have your attention and now that I am done rolling on the floor laughing, check out this article about treating debt collectors with respect :)  I love the "salt of the earth" Comment

Jeff, that's a good one indeed. These debt collectors can be ravenous and highly obnoxious. They do belittle the consumers with threatening talks. I had spoken with a client who went through this and it's as exactly illustrated in the article.
I too read this and rolled backwards off my chair! Especially when i had just talked to the guy holding up my B of A 2nd loan approval with his credit collections agency stubborness.  However, when I explained that the $15,000 was not going to happen, my Seller is ok with Foreclosure, I am ok with letting it go, and it might be a good idea to accept the 10% the first is offering so we can be done with it..he agreed.  After he gave me a speech about people running away from their obligations..blah, blah, blah.  "OK, I'll take the 10%"  I called my B of A negotiator who said, "I cannot believe this!  Great!  Old Republic Collections are the WORST!  They've shut down a SHort Sale for $1,000.  Good job!"  What a riot. I guess this Credit Collector thought I treated him with "respect" by acknowledging we were all willing to walk and bye-bye to his 10% and good luck to chasing my Seller?????
OMG>.I am still laughing over the article....they treat people like sub-humans when they call to collect the debt so what do they expect....most of the time when you call into banks (and I use that term loosely) now call centers..the people answering your calls are former bill collectors..they are generally rude, hateful, and do not want to do their job...how about a little respect for the general population...bill collectors!!  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...
