What do you think of Bank of America's request for standardized document names in Equator?

I actually have been naming my documents very similar as the new "standardized" way so it does not create additional effort on my part!

I love the thought that there is finally a step in the right direction to standardize the process.  Maybe just a baby step, but still in the right direction.

If it cuts down on confusion then I am all for it, everyone one the same page!

I'm surprised it took them this long to come up with it!!! Very valuable, in my opinion.

I also have been naming my docs the same for the most part.  I label homeowner documents using their last name and then the type of doc.  then if it pertains to the listing, I start with the address and then the type of doc.  I like when there is conformity in anything.  It makes it easier to do our job and being a short sale specialist can be very challenging  :)

I, too, agree, it's better for everyone to have standard file names. I can only imagine what they are receiving.

It is a half measure at best, but for BofA, it is genius. Oddly, they didn't make it mandatory (yet) and start denying files right and left because of an uppercase letter, etc. as they have with many things.

We picked a database years ago and put in a file template to have "slots" for various needs - as if we had a clue of what to do with documents. For instance, click on a page to open the list of common docs needed, what the doc is named, when it was put in and a traditional database archive feature so that when you replace it with a new one, you can still get to the old one, etc. So, we have "most recent pay stub" etc. Just click on that and put in your new one. If anyone wants anything that is current, just click on the page, they are all there - a missing one has no file name, etc. About a thousand times easier than training every agent BofA's arbitrary scheme (remember when they insisted that the homeowner log in and put in their own documents? I'm actually amazed that someone got them to stop that mess.

Now I know that a company of 6 people picking a commercial database and adding to their templates so that data can be organized and quickly updated and retrieved is probably a project way beyond the scope of small poor BofA,  so I guess the file naming is a great 20th century approach to the problem.  At least they haven't gone the insane WF route of hiding everything you submit, making negotiators "illegally" send you things via email because Equator email is insecure(??) and sending you emails that say log into Equator to read emails that say log into Equator to read... But since REOTRANS, I have been unable to get them to either put in useful help information in their forms (like which place do I put that 2nd loan in? - help is "answer in dollars and cents") or to fix what they want for commission (give commission percentage. answer in dollars and cents)??? So, they obviously can't even change simple text in their system. Someone outside of their system got around that by asking everyone else to change instead.

This will just be another bureaucratic club for BofA to hit agents with and have 1/10 the advantage of a decent way to put in and retrieve documents which is obvious to anyone who glances at it. Would it be nicer to have the most recent pay stub in the same place every time instead of hunting for the name randomly in the library? We think so.

[Oh, it does add a problem - I have a standard for my names - lastname-pay-10-19.pdf for instance. It is in its own lastname-address folder, but still, a very fast search will find what I want anywhere for anyone across gigabytes of years worth of files. I will now need to change the names of the files to upload to equator - because they couldn't read the comment that I filled out saying pay stub 10/19? The negotiator can read the file name but not the comment field? Really? Do I need to be wearing brown shoes when I upload them, too?  HA!]

Oh, can't keep ranting - gotta go - pony express was just here - must be another high speed BofA delivery....

Sounds like a good idea too me.  Like it says, it makes it easier for them to located documents.
