I have a BofA short sale that was listed and got an offer.  BofA is in first position.  I just tried to enter into Equator and got a message that says the loan # is already active in the application.  Yet, I don't see the property under my list of properties.  I have never seen this message before and not sure how to get our offer into Equator so that it can be reviewed by Bank of America.  Has anyone else ever seen this and what should I do?  Thanks.

Since it probably is the right number, someone already put it into the system to do a short sale and it is in their queue. In any case, you need to call the SS dept and see what is up. Of course your authorization needs to be in before they will talk to you and that probably means fax then wait 2 days for them to mosey over to the file to log it

Joe is exactly correct.  Also, you should ask the seller if they were working with someone else on this short sale.  If so, the seller needs to cancel their authorization as well.

It is possible that the owners have applied for a loan modification and the file might be under review for a different kind of foreclosure alternative. What you might do is ask the sellers to call Bank of America at 866 880 1232 and ask for the loan modification to be closed.

My seller is currently living in Japan.  I had looked in our MLS and the house was never previously listed with another Realtor prior to my taking the listing.  I emailed my seller, and asked if he could possibly shed any light on this for me.  He said that just before he called me, he said that he talked to a man at Bank of America (was not able to get his name) and the man told him that he should do a short sale and that he would put the file into Equator.  The man at Bank of America directed him to a list of Realtors in his zip code and my name was on the list, which is how he got my name.  So it looks like Bank of America put it into Equator, but the person at Bank of America that my seller talked to didn't mention anything about a loan modification!  This is a new one on me!

Well, I finally solved the mystery of why this could not be put into Equator - apparently BofA has put this file in the hands of a company called Seneca Servicing (formerly AMS) and they have assigned someone to the file.  It has only taken a week plus to find this out - the girl at BofA directed me to one company - turned out not to be the right company - which meant I had to go back to the person at BofA - who directed me to another company - then they would not talk to me until the Third Party Authorization was sent to them.  When they finally called me back after 2 days, they let me know they got the Third Party Authorization, but, unfortunately, they did not have the file!  A third call back to BofA finally got me to the right person!  Left a message for the negotiator, who would not call me back, but sent an email to the seller to let them know that I was calling and leaving messages for her.  My seller was able to get the email & fax number to send the Third Party Authorization to, which I did and now I can upload information into Equator!!!  Unbelievable that I have now lost 2 weeks trying to find out who I have to deal with on this file!!!
