The last listing has been expired/withdrawn for more than a month but when I go into Equator to begin the short sale, the system informs me that I cannot proceed because this file already exists in the system under another agent.  How can I get BofA/Equator to recognize me?  I sent in the Third Party Authorization to every BofA fax number I could find a few days ago but still, no progress ....

Any suggestions?

Call customer service. This happened to me and they switched the file to me right away since my LOA was on file. If that fails, use twitter and/or have your client call customer service.

Contact BofA directly and let them know that are now the listing agent due to the prior listing expired.  They will send you a task via equator and you will accept the assignment and begin.

Easy way.  Have the seller/borrower call and have them give the rep your email address.  Ask them to transfer any open file to your account.  A file already in the system could mean one of two things:  A deed in lieu is in process or the file is still open with the other listing agent.  Good luck.  The borrower calling takes two minutes and is really the quickest way.

Both you and the Seller should call Customer Service and tell BofA there has been a change in Listing Agents and the File needs to be reset.  That should do it... It will probably get done while you are on the phone with them.

I'm all squared away now.  Thanks for all replies given.  I called with the Seller and learned that the file was with their HAFA department without a work group assigned.  They submitted a request to have a work group assigned and told the seller that once this occurs, I can be added to the equation via Equator, etc.

Interestingly enough, I also received a direct call from a very nice man from the BofaA social media team who wanted to be certain I had obtained my desired result.  He also informed me about the Twitter team of BofA and their role in helping Agents ... very impressive!
