From the comments stream, Met Life seems bad bad bad in terms of servicing short sales.

I see comments from Seniors, not caring.  not being able to use a fax.  needing to mail papers.

lots of advice to skip to the investor etc.  even sueing the company.

Does anyone have god news about this company?

No they are awful.  I hate this bank.

My company has worked on 2 Metlife short sales. The first one we had 7 months before we could even get a bpo done. Then, when we finally got a full FMV offer last December. It was a month before a scheduled forclosure sale date. We tried to contact the negotiator several times a week via email and phone...no response. Then we finally got her to call us back a few days after Christmas, after more than 3 weeks. She used the old "Holidays" excuse, and said that she would try to postpone the sale and review the offer. She let it foreclose, and even admitted her fault in the matter, but when I tried to have the sale rescinded, they wouldn't do it and she disappeared again.

We are still currently working on the second one. We were working with a different negotiator, and she approved our offer. Now we have a final HUD and are trying to close, but our negotiator has left the company and we were assigned to the same negotiator that we had on the 1st short sale. She is holding true to form and not doing anything. We have already had to submit a 2nd final HUD because we missed the closing dating waiting for approval from her on the 1st final HUD. Now we are waiting on approval of the 2nd final HUD. Closing is today and we still don't have HUD approval--it takes 5 minutes!

So yes... I would say that Metlife is as bad as the comments suggest. If anyone reads this and knows of any Metlife management / escalation contacts, please let me know.

How do you find out who the investor is?

Here are the resources we use:

If the bank can’t or won’t tell who the Investor is who holds the Note, use the websites below.

If not on the above two, use the one below. Mortgage Electronic Registration System tracks mortgages and mortgage-backed securities.
