Hello - I recently sold a house in Florida (Kissimmee) via short sale. Got a release from Chase and closed on 12/30. I am awaiting a 1099-c from Chase. My questions are these:

1). Where can I check to see how Chase filed this closing (deed) with the county? Is there a web site that I can check to see what wording they used in the filing?

2). I closed on the 30th, is Chase required to issue a 1099-C this year? I am assuming if a 1099 is coming they have to send it out by mid Feb like all other required tax related documents.

1) you should be able to get a copy at the County Clerk's office - also your closing officer can provide it.

2) 1099s have to be sent for the prior year by January 31st.

Thom - thanks.  Any suggestions where I would look on their web site?  I have been searching the web site for about and hour and half with no luck..  I have a feeling it is right in front of me but I just do not see it..

Thanks Kevin and Thom - I visited the site and noted that the last document downloaded to the site was a Warranty Deed that my wife and signed. The house closed on 12/30, how long does it normally take for Chase to post whatever it is they file with the county?  I guess my next question is what would Chase be filing? What document should I be looking for on the county site?   Thanks again..     

Hi Dan. It will take 30 to 45 days for the recording to show up in the public records. Chase will be recording a satisfaction of lien. The closing agent will be recording the new deed that you signed as part of you closing documents deeding the property to the new owner. As of this morning the docs are not showing up. That doesn't mean they haven't filed just that they have not been imaged yet and placed in the system.

You will also receive the satisfaction of lien in the mail assuming you gave the closing agent your correct forwarding addy.

Thanks to all..  I will be a bit patient and wait for the system to catch up. I would imagine there were a lot of closings at the end of 2011. The person who bought by short sale needed to complete an exchange by the end of the year. My attorney also mentioned that I don't have to worry to much. The approval letter had the needed wording "agrees to release it's security interests in the above collateral and forgive any deficiency balnces upon the recept of $xxx,xxx.xx in certified US funds". He also said that the 1099's have to be sent out by first week in Feb..   Thanks again..
