This file has seen it all (Since January) - lost packages, lost authorizations and more. The most recent issue is that the appraisal and title have been completed and submitted over 3 weeks ago but MetLIfe says "it's not in our system yet so we can't make a decision until it's scanned into the system."  An escalation request was made and still no response. We've been under contract 3 times now and this buyer is considering pulling out. Does anyone have any high level contacts that might be able to help?  I've completed many short sales with various lenders successfully - MetLife has been the most difficult to work with.

Just wondering if you ever got this short sale completed? It sounds like you were having the same issues that we are now having and hoping you could give us some insight, thanks!

Might have found a line in to some supervisors. Going to verify if the contact info is correct and/or helpful. Will let you know if it works.

Terry,

Thanks for the hotline number. There is an attorney working ont his file. I'll pass it on to her. It's hard to believe it's taken so long!  I hope you're well!

Marie-- Met Life is definitely one of the worst.  I actually have had to get an attorney involved at one point.  Also, if there's MI involved, they'll use that to up contract price and say that it's a requirement of the MI company, which isn't true.  Next time, try calling the Met Life Short Sale Hotline at 800-971-7434.  I've used this resources a couple of times and they've been very helpful.

Wendie,

This hasn't closed yet. I can't tell you how many times it's been "escalated" The attorney has taken over for her staff person that was assigned the file. I hope that makes a difference!

Dan Kreibel Vice-President Loss Mitigation [email protected]

This is the guy I started copying on my weekly updates and suddenly I had an approval letter.  We've been banging away so long I'm not sure if it was his doing after reviewing the file or if it was a miracle of another sort.  Whatever the reason we will be closing in June.

I contacted Dan Kreibel and he is the VP of Loss Mitigation/Home Retention for First Horizon/First Tennessee. He has no affiliation with MetLife. I was able to get some clarification on the relationship between MetLife, First Horizon & First Tennesee. It seems that First Horizon/First Tennessee are one in the same. Recently MetLife began purchasing and servicing First Horizon loans. So if you are working a file that was originated by First Horizon, but now is with MetLife, First Horizon may still be the investor or they may have nothing to do with the loan.

On my deal, First Horizon originated both 1st and 2nd mortgages. Now MetLife is servicing on behalf of Fannie Mae and the 2nd is still with First Horizon/First Tennesse (where Dan Kriebel is VP of Loss Mitigation).

I did just receive approval of my short sale on 6/7. The file was assigned on 4/11. I never had any communication with the negotiator (despite my frequent calls to Loss Mit) until he called me out-of-the-blue to say the short sale was approved. I had to escalate the BPO order on 5/3 and escalated again on 6/7. He contacted me that same day. You have to ask whoever answers the phone in Loss Mit to request that their "team lead" escalate an email the negotiators supervisor. Each time we did that, my file would progress within 24 hours.

They may tell you that the have escalated when they have not. Call back in a day or two and ask the person you are speaking with to look at the file notes and confirm that an escalation email was actually sent. Sometimes they just want you off the phone, but other times you will get someone who is honest and will help.
