Seterus, Inc. is now offering the Clarifire Community, a new online customer service site to help streamline the application and approval process for foreclosure alternative programs, such as short sale, deed in lieu of foreclosure and deed for lease.  The site can be used by any third party authorized by the customer. 

Through the site, you will be able to do the following:

  • Find information on alternatives to foreclosure such as a short sale, deed in lieu or deed for lease
  • Request Seterus’s assistance with a foreclosure alternative
  • Obtain requirements and upload necessary documentation
  • Monitor status of your request 24 hours a day, 7 days per week
  • Contact your Seterus account officer via live, online chat during our regular business hours

To use Clarifire Community, please have the customer register and complete the authorization process at:  https://seterus.clarifirecommunity.com

Called the same number several times and began trying every prompt getting a dead end & then I got through and got a lot of information on my transaction! I hope it works for all of you....here's what I did:
1. Call the same number (866) 570-5277
2. Enter "1" for English
3. When asked to provide, enter your client's loan number
4. When asked to provide, enter the last four digits of your client's social
5. When you get the recording with the menu options, select "5" which will be to enter your party's extension number (even though I didn't have an extension number)
6. When asked to enter the extension number I entered "*" (just an asterisk) not followed by anything else. I just waited for a couple of seconds and then a live person came on and started asking all of the normal questions they used to when they picked up the phone

Hi Jamie. Yes I have. Here's the exact language from the one I closed in February:

Upon completion of all requirements by borrower(s), Seterus, Inc. will release the Borrower(s) from any remaining deficiency balance due and execute a release and a discharge of the deed of trust/mortgage and, if necessary, will dismiss any pending legal action to collect this obligation. As required by law, Seterus, Inc. may issue a 1099C, Forgiveness of Debt, as a result of this Settlement Agreement. Borrower(s) acknowledges that there may be tax implications resulting from debt forgiveness. Borrower(s) should consult with a tax advisor.

I desperately need a supervisor/management/upper level escalation contact after a disastrous and borderline illegal call from the negotiator today. Any help?

Does anyone have a manager level contact? Seterus keeps declining the short sale due to the hardship not being valid in their opinion (it is in reality), but since it keeps going back to the same negotiator, we can't get anywhere. When I asked to speak with his manager he hung up on me and has not returned a call or email since. Extremely frustrating!

If the investor is Fannie or Freddie you may be able to have the borrower make a one time postponement direct to Fannie or Freddie. I have been successful both times in order to allow the short sale to close successfully both times. I have not attempted this with the servicer, although I have heard of another agent's seller do it with a positive outcome.

Help Please!! Anybody have any higher level contacts at Seterus to get the foreclosure sale date postponed? According to them there is nothing we can do unless the buyer accepts $40,000 more from what they offered, otherwise they will foreclose tomorrow, March 6 but I thought I should keep trying.  The offer we have is very good but they are not willing to stop the foreclosure to consider it.  Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
