I just had a Chase negotiator tell me that FNMA is not longer participating in HAFA. Is this true? I think she is off her rocker as I have closed a ton of FNMA HAFA short sales this year. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

FNMA hasn't participated in HAFA since the end of last year.

Servicing Guide, Part VII, Section 610: Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program
The Fannie Mae HAFA program will expire on December 31, 2012. In order for a mortgage loan to be
considered for a Fannie Mae HAFA preforeclosure sale or Fannie Mae HAFA deed-in-lieu transaction, the
servicer must receive a fully executed HAFA Short Sale Agreement (Form 184) or HAFA Deed-In-Lieu
Agreement (Form 186) on or before December 31, 2012.

HAFA did end on DEC31, 2012. It was then re-instated with updated guidelines FEB2013. I was just wondering if anyone has had a negotiator give them such a crazy response. I doubted myself at one point today I called FNMA and they did verify that HAFA is very much still in existence and they are participating.

They call it HAFA II/Standard Short Sale.  It isn't really HAFA though.  I'm not aware of any major changes to the program since last year.  What change are you referring too in February?

Fannie Mae post changes to their Servicing Guidance here in the form of Announcements or Lender Letters -

Kevin, yes this link states that FNMA is active with HAFA, this I already know. Once again, I would like to know if anyone has ever gotten such a crazy response from a negotiator? Instead of working on the approval letter I have been wasting my time with a negotiator that does not know what she is doing.

Nicole - just go ahead and send the negotiator the document that Kevin posted.  I find that often times, negotiators are lower level operators and aren't really aware of anything except for what they are "told".  By whom?  Who knows!
