I am processing a short sale with Citi that began in October of this year.  This client borrower came to us with an active foreclosure sale date.  We quickly submitted all Citi required documents and we were assigned a Citi rep quickly.  The sale date was postponed to 12/4/13.  Since then our Citi rep has missed two scheduled conference calls with me and failed to reply to 4 emails.  I contacted customer service today and they couldn't locate our TPA (even though I have been calling every few days for status updates).  I asked to speak with a supervisor, he transferred me to a recorded message asking to enter loan number.  Hung up, called back and spoke with another rep, who couldn't locate TPA either but I was able to email it to her on the spot and then continue to speak with her.  After 10 minutes on the phone with her (she wasn't able to even locate our reps name and asked me if she may have gotten married and changed her name...(Do you know if she goes by another name? she asked), after much more wasted time she advised me that the loan is being service released on 12/4/13, again I asked for a department supervisor.  She transferred me to another short sale rep who advised me there is NO service release date.  The new rep then puts me on hold several times and comes back and said they are missing the divorce decree (my clients are married, not divorced and the borrower has already called Citi after receiving a letter in the mail requesting).

Does anyone know what is going on with Citi?  This is only my first short sale with them.  I was very thankful they were able to stop the foreclosure in the beginning within only about 6 days.  I felt Citi must have their act together, now I am not so sure.  They did postpone the current sale date of 12/4/13, but only to 12/11/13.  Has anyone ever heard of postponement 1 week at a time? Isn't 30 days standard?

Yes, he hasn't been any help.  They just keep going back and forth.  It's ridiculous. In the meantime the borrower is closer to foreclosure everyday.

Kathy,

Have you had the Borrower reach out to their Loan Tech?

The fee appraiser assigned by VA must personally

We are having an issue with a VA mortgage with Citibank - the VA only did an exterior appraisal and Citi wants an interior appraisal.  VA keeps saying that the value will not change even with the interior but Citi wants this done.  VA will not comply.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  We are at a standstill and there is a sale date pending.  This is on a short sale in Virginia.

@ Jan Sanderlin - check your email when you get a chance pls.  @ Becky I have escalated the file to the Executive Response Unit, however I am still waiting.  I have gone to county records, MERS etc and CITI is the servicer and investor of the loan... Why is it so difficult for them to retrieve this loan, request a settlement & release this lien.  Title is working diligently, Title commitment shows Citi as 2nd lien; nothing can be done until Citi releases that lien, we went to UW and even prior buyer's ins. policy...homeowner is cooperating...

@ Becky and Gilda: I just closed a Citi as a 2nd lien that had reached the point of charge-off but I was able to bring it back from the brink three times.  I was working with the negotiator for the 1st lien holder, Impac and not the servicer BofA.  My Impac gal was a Rock Star, I also had an awesome negotiator at Citi as well, but I wound up having to go the Executive Offices because of multiple delays to closing.  Charge-off is exactly as Kevin states, limbo, Never, Never-land, a place to avoid at all times if possible. Once there, sometimes you can get them to pull the file back into Citi, sometimes you have to work with Citi collections, and/or Collection Agencies and often times the file is sent to law firms who can be difficult to work with for an equitable settlement. Please email me: [email protected], we'll talk...My post was 6/21/2013 and 6/23/2013. No one from this web site reached out to me...I had to use other resources...

Becky,  This Loan could be in limbo right now.  I would reach out to upper Management at Citi.
