Citi said "not allowed to talk to Authorized 3rd parties anymore for GA loans"

CitiMortgage told my associate today that there was a recent state law in GA passed stating that they were not allowed to talk to Authorized 3rd parties anymore.  They even talked to a supervisor and they confirmed this.  Has anyone anything like this on CitiMortgage short sales?

Thanks, Will call them 1st thing tomorrow.

Latest update:

I talked to 2 different supervisors and was told that it's not a state law, but a directive that has come from the top at citi regarding all GA borrowers.  They believe it is the result of some new GA legislation.  The last supervisor that I spoke with said that they have talked to a ton of irate Realtors and Attorneys

Please keep us in the loop on this....maybe reach out to the realtor board or the attorney general for GA

This is what I received from the Executive Response Specialist with Citi today.

Hello Denise,

This is correct. This is a guideline that we have to abide by.

I have however received a request similar to yours and I am currently trying to find a statute number or a legislation document that states we cannot speak to third parties even though we have written authorization.

Please keep in touch. I will get back to you as soon as possible once I have something.

I ALSO CONFIRMED.. Now get this... it ever applies to spouses.  Husband who is the only one on the mortgage who has signed authorization for his wife to speak to Ciit MUST be on the phone at the same time as the wife to give a verbal consent that is only good for that one phone call.  If transferred to another person and they also verify then borrower has to get back on the phone again.

I had to know more and I had to ask the question just to see what they answer would be.  What if the husband is in the hospital and can't talk?  Don't matter.. What if the husband is mute and has always been mute?  Their response was "I really don't know what to tell you then".

They told us they are requiring a Power of attorney to work with them on short sales yet they cant even point us to a form they will approve.  Anyone have an Approved CITI POA?
