UPDATED 09 19 09:

To update my post below on BOA Authorization to Release: I received a call yesterday from my Seller who received a letter of authorization in the mail from Bank of America requesting a new authorization to be signed by them and the form also indicates a spot for me to sign requesting my Social Security number/last four digits or another password. There we have it, in writing. Please note that this ia an original BOA loan with the loan # having 10 digits whereas the Countrywide loans have 9 digits. So they may just be requiring it with 10 digit, original BOA loans. Yes, incredible.

In following up with a Short Sale submitted to Bank of America today, they're telling me that they received my authorization to speak on behalf of the borrower however it isn't complete as they need a password on it! HA, yes, they want me to put the last four digits of my social security number or another password to identify myself. Funny how the 4 prior times I followed up on the file that nobody ever requested such and apparently this has been policy since before May. Lets add more details to slow their process. Have you encountered such?

That is not normal. Call back and talk to someone else. They need the last 4 of the borrowers SSN. Sounds like another dummy at the wheel, just call back and someone else will answer
Hi Jeff, Oh I know...you're right it isn't normal nor or they. I did do just that, hung up, called back and contacted someone else and they reiterated the same thing. I said I'm not going to provide you with my social security # and yes, said the same thing, I provide the Borrowers s/s # not mine! They said well if you don't use your s/s # then you can come up with your own password, such as "cat".

Weird. I've talked to them twice today with no such request! Maybe this is part of their new system coming out that is rumored?
Sometimes when I call different lenders one will tell me they want something that I've never been asked for before. I just call back and talk to someone else and move forward just fine.
Never heard of such and we have processed 30 or so BoA since then.
I know Wendy, it indeed was weird; two seperate calls and same thing

I hear you Richard...this is the first that I've received from BOA too. I waited, phoned back again and proceeded to gain access to the account information without making any reference to my prior phone call and received the same request. Perhaps they're flagging certain accounts, I don't know.

I updated my post above 9/19/09
Crazy, 1 more thing to add to the mess. I'm hearing that they are supposed to be cutting down on the amount of paperwork required....we shall see...
Oh, I know Dawn. Just what we need more requirements to lengthen the process
Lynn I actually have 3 shorts sales through B of A right now and yesterday they sent me the Authorization to Release information for one of them, but they said I could use either my SSN or my brokers Tax ID. They never said anything about a password.
