Wells Fargo is threatening to return the wire and not release their lien because we did not fax all of the closing docs in 1 complete fax. On the day of closing the signed approval letter, and affidavits  were sent to them . the next day the closing negotiator called and said all docs were received however the seller forgot to initial the bottom of page 1. We had them do this an we faxed back the contract to them. Now they call today and said we must re-fax all of the same documents again in 1 complete fax.  This is nothing but complete bank silliness!  I challenged them and stated that there is nothing in writing stating that they can do this and that they have no legal right to return the wire.

  • As some mentioned, WF will return the wire. It happens all of the time. They're even willing to return the wire on the same transaction multiple times. I'm sure you've already learned this, but make sure you entirely follow their closing instructions for future transactions.

  • Wells send the wire back all the time for whatever reason they want.  Just do it.

  • Just send the fax. This is quite common. WF usually has have a complete post closing package within 48 hours of closing or they will send the wire back. Get them what they need. They are using their leverage to get what they need in a timely fashion.
