I'm working on a short sale and have 1st and 2nd mortgages approved. Now I just have the pesky judgement out there from Haferman Water Conditioning in Burnsville MN. The face value of the judgement is $1511. which of course I'll pay to close since we're close to foreclosure. Haferman was not willing to negotiate, so we agreed to pay in full. Larry Haferman calls back an hour later and now he said he needs $2100 because he has additional costs associated with it now. The closer said we need the release so we need to do what it takes to get it. Closing is this Friday, do or die otherwise it's bank owned. Can Haferman Water Conditioning do this? It is legal to demand more than face value?
