We have an approved Short Sale with the first mortgage being Chase and the second SpringLeaf. According to the County records All State Home Mortgage holds the 1st mortgage with no record of Chase having any authority over the mortgage. Chase's research Dept. is "working" on the issue, but there is no phone line into them for myself or my closer at Chase to speak with them. They provided me with a Lost Assignment Affidavit, but they did not attach as Exhibit A the lost assignment. I have figured out that the loan went from All State Home Mortgage (who no longer exists) to New Century Mortgage Corporation (who I believe was issued a Cease & Desist in 2007) to Chase. I was able to track down the POA between New Century & Chase, so now we are only missing the nexus between All State Home Mortgage and New Century Mortgage Corporation. Does anyone have a way to contact the Chase Research Department other than Fax and the general e-mail? Please advise.

More importantly, does Chase have the note. The mortgage assignment is irrelevant to a short sale. Who is raising the issue?

Edit: On second thought, yes I guess they'll need it to record the satisfaction...brain freeze.
