My short sale was completed in January 2012 and both first and second mortgage were with Fifth Third. The first was forgiven and the second was not and we then had to sign a promissary note for the second at closing. It was an affordable payment with no interest. When I login to my Fifth Third bank account, the loan is there and each payment received is listed as "Chargeoff Recovery". However, much to my surprise the loan is not listed on my credit report. What does this mean? Is Fifth Third waiting for me to default and then try to settle the amount of the loan for a less payoff? Or, can they do anything if I don't pay? Or, did this promissary note seal the deal. Any thoughts on this is appreciated.
